About Me

Profile picture

Hi, I’m Muhi Masri — a frontend architect, consultant, and educator based in Toronto. Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been building software professionally since earning my Computer Science degree in 2007, and over the years I’ve developed a deep focus on frontend architecture, scalable UI systems, and helping teams grow their technical foundations in a sustainable way.

Educator at Heart

Teaching and mentorship have always been a core part of my work. I write in-depth tutorials and share practical insights focused on React, frontend architecture, design systems, and modern UI development. Today, thousands of developers read my content, and I find a lot of meaning in helping engineers not just use tools, but understand the reasoning behind architectural decisions.

Building Frontend Foundations

Professionally, I’ve worked with everything from early-stage startups to large enterprise teams. My work consistently lives at the foundation layer, building scalable frontend platforms, component libraries, and UI systems that help teams move faster without sacrificing quality.

I’m currently an independent consultant and the founder of UI Shop, a practice focused on frontend architecture, design systems, and development efficiency. My goal is to help teams standardize their UI foundations, improve performance, and build systems that scale with both the product and the team.

Technical Expertise

While React is my primary specialization, my foundation is deeply rooted in JavaScript and the modern web platform. I bring hands-on experience across Angular, Vue, Web Components, and full-stack development using Node.js and Next.js. Working across frameworks and environments has given me a strong understanding of JavaScript-driven architectures, design patterns, and trade-offs, helping me design UI systems that are portable, resilient, and built to last.

Projects, Products, and Open Work

Alongside consulting, I’ve founded and worked with multiple startups across EdTech and FinTech, taking products from idea to execution. This includes building interactive, video-based learning platforms for music educators, smart parking systems, and Amazon Textract–based workflows that automate data extraction and payments. These experiences shaped how I think about product design, system boundaries, and real-world constraints.

My enthusiasm for editable tables and grids inspired me to author multiple highly ranked tutorials and develop projects like the React Editable Table on GitHub and the Vue Editable Table, published as an npm package.

Current Focus: AI-Native Frontend Development

More recently, my focus has expanded into AI-native, spec-driven development. I’m actively exploring how clear specifications, design tokens, and structured rules can guide AI tools to generate consistent, predictable frontend code without breaking architecture or design systems.

As part of this exploration, I’m developing Themeable, an experimental project that allows AI-driven theming and UI customization from predefined templates using design tokens and theme configuration. The goal is to let teams move fast with AI while keeping strong guardrails around structure, consistency, and maintainability.

Always Learning, Always Sharing

I believe great frontend systems are built through a combination of strong foundations, thoughtful constraints, and continuous learning. I enjoy sharing what I learn, learning from others, and helping teams and developers level up along the way.
